Wireless Warrior Weekend 1
Saturday, May 27, 2006
Wireless Warrior Weekend 1 was held on Saturday, May 27, 2006 from 10AM to 2PM at Rivermark Park in Santa Clara.
The point of the exercise this time was just to make sure all the equipment works at short distances. We'll try a long-distance link next time. Rivermark Park was chosen because it has just enough slope to the center of the field to prevent test sites on opposite ends of the park from easily seeing each other.
The event was a success, with a 3-way Voice-over-IP (VoIP) conference call over the WiFi links across the park.
Participants came from
Stratofox,
SVWUX and
SVCUG.
As we increase the distances of the WiFi links, this is getting practice for construction of the
Stratofox WiFi-Net with the actual equipment that will be used to build it.
Project coordinator Chris Verges has photos
on his web site which were taken by Ian Kluft and Katie Filaski. See
Chris' e-mail in the SVWUX list archive.
