Stratofox WiFi-Net Project
The Stratofox WiFi-Net project is an experiment to construct a wireless network data link between Reno and the Black Rock Desert for use by Stratofox, projects supported by Stratofox and to assist with emergency communications.
The primary purpose of the network is for the support of rocket launches which Stratofox participates in.
A secondary purpose is to provide an Internet voice-over-IP link to Stratofox's Amateur Radio repeater, which will allow anyone with a Ham Radio license to connect to other repeaters if needed to call for help.
Many other ideas already exist. We expect this project will continue to inspire more.
As of Spring 2006, the equipment to build this project has already been contributed by generous sponsors. Construction could begin as early as Summer if we can make arrangements for the endpoint stations that soon.
