JP Aerospace flights in Oklahoma, March 2002

Next[Next]

JP Aerospace made two single-balloon flights in Oklahoma in March 2002

We were invited to perform the inaugural flights from the Oklahoma Spaceport
(remodeled former Air Force base turned aerospace industrial facility)

Away 14 - flew meteorology instruments to 100K for Oklahoma University
recovered 90 minutes after touchdown 70 miles ESE of launch site

Away 15 - dropped from 95K 550 paper airplanes made by Oklahoma school kids
recovered 20 minutes after touchdown 80 miles ENE of launch site
a record for us and the Oklahoma Hams who participated in the search

These were supposed to be on an 11-balloon platform
35 knot winds prevented launching more than one balloon at a time
