We had more people able to make it for this launch since it only
required taking one day off from work.
And of course, everyone knew that if this flight was successful,
it would win the X-Prize.
But remember, nothing was certain yet before it happenned.
It was off to a good start. Even the weather was perfect. There wasn't even any wind overnight. It would have been considered normal if there had been some.
Things got off to an on-time start before dawn so we didn't get any pictures before the chase planes taxied out.
