CSXT SpaceShot 2004 - First Amateur Launch to Space

Tuesday morning at camp

The GoFast bus parked as a wind block for the helicopter all night. And the Palmers parked their RV as a wind block for the Stratofox camp.

Tuesday morning we photographed the wind damage which had occurred at Camp Stratofox on Monday while we were gone. The wind continued steadily all night but there was no further damage besides the group tent pole breakage and collapse,

Tuesday morning, Camp Stratofox is all that remains at the launch site. And at that, it isn't entirely intact after Monday's wind storms. The CSXT folks had taken the roof off the canopy and put it in the group tent. But the wind snapped some poles and collapsed the group tent after that. All the personal tents were just fine. With 40mph winds on the lakebed surface, it's way too windy for the helicopter to search. So they're going home. The GoFast bus has backed up from the wind-block position it has served for the helicopter overnight. (photo by Ian Kluft KO6YQ)
